Setup

  • Spread the board between the two players so that each one has their village in front of them. Place the year marker in the first space (fertile year) and give the Mill to the starting player.

  • Place all the water tokens on the river on the board. The rest of the resources (wheat, oats, rye and hops) go to the common reserve.

  • Shuffle the cards and place them in a side pile. Each player receives an initial hand of cards.

  • Fill in the initial resource fields as indicated on the board for the first season (fertile year)

Rules

  • Each year has 4 phases: Sowing, Cards, Actions and Mill. The rounds alternate between fertile years and dry years, changing the amount of resources available.

  • The player who has the Windmill plays a card and takes an action. Then the other player does the same. Once both have played, they exchange hands of cards.

  • The three possible actions per letter:

  • Harvest and Store: Play a card and take the resources it indicates, which go to your storage.

  • Produce and Sell: If you have the resources indicated on the menu, you can make bread or beer and sell it. Place the letter in the bakery or brewery; While it is there, you will not be able to sell that product again.

  • Buff and Empty: Play a card to activate its buff effect, which can be of several types.

Victory conditions

  • After the sixth round, each player takes back all sold beer and bread cards and adds up the coins they award separately. Bonuses from upgrades are added. The final score is the lower of both quantities: beer or bread.

  • Whoever has the highest final score wins. Therefore, it is essential to balance the production of both products.
