Setup

  • Unfold the Pittsburgh board and place each player's industry tiles in their starting area.

  • Shuffle and deal 8 cards to each player; the rest form the central draw pile.

  • Fill the resource market with coal, iron, and money according to player count.

TURN STRUCTURE

  • Each turn a player plays one card from their hand to execute an action, then discards it. Cards represent cities or resources and determine where you can build or connect.

MAIN ACTIONS

Build

Erect an industry on your network by paying resources and using a location card

Railroad

Build a rail link connecting two cities by spending coal or iron from the market

Develop

Upgrade one of your own industries to the next level on the board

Sell

Liquidate a fully built industry to earn points and free up space

Loan

Take a bank loan for immediate cash at the cost of end-game points

TWO ERAS

  • The game is played over two eras. At the end of the first, all unsold industries and unconnected rail links are removed

RESOURCES

  • Iron, coal, and money come from the central market or from rival industries if they are network-connected
